Welcome to Year 5/6 SG!
Croeso i blwyddyn 5/6!
Welcome to the Year 5/6 SG class page. Mrs Furivnal, Mrs Davies and I are very excited to welcome you all back to school. We have all settled really well into our new class and are really enjoying our new school routine! It is very different to how school used to be but we are all coping very well. Our class is full of exciting pupils who are all eager to get going and develop their skills and knowledge through the next school year.
As well as literacy and numeracy, we have an exciting topic to explore and learn. We will be starting off the year with Extreme Earth! Below you can see a copy of our Topic Web. We have already brain stormed our ideas and recorded lots of questions that we would like to find the answers to, as well as discussing and planning our topic we have also been talking about the four core purposes. We are ambitious and capable, enterprising and creative, healthy, confident individuals and ethically informed citizens. These core purposes underpin our teaching and learning and will be at the core of everything we do. Alongside this, the pupils will be engaging and developing knowledge in Science, Physical Education, ICT and Welsh. Mrs Jayne Willis will be covering PPA this year on a Monday and the pupils will be studying Religious Education and exploring a Welsh Topic.
PE will take place on a Thursday afternoon. Please can the children wear their kit into school on PE days.
Reading Books and Records - Please can all books and records be returned on a Wednesday. It is important that every child reads and a comment is added so the teacher can record progress. Even if the book is not finished, a comment on how your pupil has read for the pages read would be much appreciated.
GoogleClassroom - It is very important that you continue to access google classroom from home in the event that we do need to return to online learning at some point. If you are unable to log in or need passwords again, please message me via dojo and I will be more than happy to support you. In addition to this, we also have access to 'My Maths', 'Purple Mash', 'Read Theory', 'HWB' and 'Timetable Rockstars' I will put all of your childs logins on one side of A4 paper and send them home so you have everything you need to be able to log in. Please don't hesitate to contact me via DoJo if you need support. We have spent the first two weeks practicing logging into our google classroom and joining our new virtual class.
Homework - I will be setting homework each Friday via google classroom and it is to be completed by the following Wednesday. If you are unable to hand it in online or complete the work online I am more than happy for your child to complete the homework on paper and a photo be sent to me via class dojo.
ClassDojo and Seesaw - We use these applications to allow the teacher and the pupils share work produced in class. This source is also a good way of communicating with parents about any issues. Please ask for a class code to join our class DoJo. See our Twitter page @CefnPrimarySG for updates in our class, you may also find some of our work on our school Twitter page @CefnPrimary
Below I have attached links to the available online platforms we have access to.
Furthermore, I would like to thank all pupils and parents for their cooperation and kindness we have already received this year. Lets have a great year of learning and see our future stars make that one step closer to their ambitions and dreams.
Miss Gurney, Mrs Furnival and Mrs Davies
